On His Due Date...

Today would have been our sweet Silas's due date.

Or alternately, he would have been one week old today if we had been induced!

He is the best.

(Obviously I think that, I'm his mama!)

Is he a perfect baby? No. But he's amazing!

We've had some ups and downs in these first 11 days.

He's met family and a few friends, had his newborn photos, and a few nights with LOTS of awake time!

He seems to not want to settle down after his first middle of the night feeding.

Like, the first feeding/awake time takes an hour and a half plus!

Obviously its a normal thing, its just not as enjoyable in the moment!

Chad did his first full night shift Saturday night.

What a trooper. He did great!

Silas is a BIG eater! I don't think our petite boy will be petite for very long!

We go for a weight check tomorrow and will see for sure, but I feel like he has already grown.

It's crazy!

...speaking of crazy, its true what people say...

the first few days/weeks are a blur!

I feel like we just got home from the hospital, but then I turned around and he's been home for 9 days!

I love seeing Chad and Silas together.

Silas LOVES snuggling his daddy.

He can be restless or upset, and all I need to do is hand him to his dad, and he's calm and happy.

Silas has also gotten to meet my nanny family.

The kids were SO excited to meet him.

The big ones did well, but Littlest Miss wasn't so sure....

...a little jealousy and a lot of curiosity.

She is very into carrying around her baby doll, but she needs some work on realizing that she can't treat this baby just the same. Haha.

Their mom texted me later that night, and told me that as she was putting Little Miss to bed, she asked if she liked her new friend Silas.

Her response?

"He's not my friend, he's my family!"

Yep, that was one of those moments where I felt like my heart would explode!

I love being this little guy's mommy.

Our Greatest Gift

He's here!!

He's here and he's perfect!! (obviously haha)

Our little man is here. And he's kind of amazing.

Silas was born at 8:19pm on  February 1!

He weighed in at 6 lbs. and 14 oz. He measured 20.25 inches.

Although, the cone head (that's gone now!) added probably an inch!

Amazingly, when he was born, he didn't cry.

His lungs were fine and all, he was just looking around, wide awake, and taking it all in.

....and then he peed. On me.

Welcome to boy mom life, right?

He's been a good eater, and a good sleeper so far!

He got to meet both sets of grandparents and Aunt Jenna the night he was born.

We got to take him home Saturday morning.

And the special part was that Silas wore home the hat, booties, and blanket that Chad wore home, 28 years earlier.

Chad is doing AWESOME.

For a guy who hasn't spent much time around babies prior to Silas, I am so impressed.

He is a master at swaddling, and has gotten the hang of diaper changes.

He has also been good at taking some time so that I can get a nap each afternoon!

The dogs are also very aware of their new baby.

Loki is especially interested.

He is always near "his" baby.

Any time Silas makes a  noise of any kind, Loki is there to check on him!

We just have to remind him that Silas doesn't need ALL the kisses.

Silas is a good baby!

He basically eats, sleeps, and poops.

We had our first visit to the pediatrician today and he is a healthy little boy!

We feel so blessed.
