Scout's First Bath

Bathing a 60 lb dog with long fur is quite different from bathing Dolly!

It was a group effort to get her into the tub and to stay!

She wasn't a huge fan, but she needed a bath so badly!

The mud was running of of her.

Again I was struck with the thought, why would anyone abandon her?!

I'm hoping she learns to love baths like Dolly!

Dolly is Getting a Sister!

We just can't seem to stop adding to the family!

Yep, we did it again!

Thursday started like a normal day at work until Mom texted me and asked if we'd like another dog.

(Of course we had talked about getting a "sibling" for Dolly, but it had always been pushed to the back of our minds as things got hectic.)

Anyways, a co worker of hers had found like gorgeous white German Shepherd in the median of Route 3 during rush hour.

She was scared and skittish, with no tags or microchip.

Mom's co worker brought it to a local vet and was hoping to get her adopted...

Were we interested?

I of course was, so I texted Chad.

He was in meetings all day, so I didn't hear from him until later in the afternoon.

I figured he would shoot the idea down right away...

...but he didn't. He started asking questions...

....And we agreed to go meet her last night. We brought Dolly along, since the two would have to get along.

It went well, but we still had big questions that we talked over on the way home.

What about the extra expenses?

Do we have time and energy to train another dog?

How would Dolly do?

What about traveling?

We talked it over, and thought it over.

We even talked over names and narrowed it down to a few we liked and thought would suit her.

The sad truth is that if we didn't take her, she would either be taken to animal control to grow old and pass away, or not even have the chance.

That didn't sit well with either of is at all.

We were getting ready to go to bed last night when Chad said, "I don't know if all of our questions will be answered but I do know I'm not ok with her missing out on life because we don't want to do a little work. We can take her."

I almost cried out of happiness and appreciation for his tender heart!

We called and made it official this morning!

Scout Rucker is joining our family Saturday!

Happy Birthday to Our Baby!

Our Dolly has been home for 6 months today!

We decided to make this her birthday since she was born approximately around this time!

She's three!

And she's mellowed considerably since March!

Of course she got presents (that she got to "open")

Her "cake"!

We have a very happy little lady tonight!

Eeek! The Series. {Part Three}

{...because the Rucker family can't seem to keep life calm and consistent, we make multiple big changes at once. This is part three.}

We saved the biggest surprise for last!

I gave my two weeks at work on Thursday.

Yeah, that did happen.

Surprise!

In the past few weeks I have been in contact with TLC For Kids, which is the top nanny-placement agency in the STL area.

They offered to place me with a family, so that I can get back to being a "career nanny".

 I don't have placement yet, so I am picking up temp hours after I leave CTI until I get permanent placement.

This came after having one of those "super-serious" conversations with Chad.

Guys, he is awesome.

Mr. "I plan everything and budget down to the penny" is willing to step out of his comfort zone because he can see how excited I am for the opportunity and how much it would mean to me to get back into nanny life!

My last day of my office job is the 4th, and I have been interviewing in the evenings for a placement.

TLC is an awesome placement service that basically acts as my "agent", helping negotiate contacts, finding eligible families, and providing CPR, first aid, and CE credits.

And this is all at no cost to me!

In case you can't tell, I am SO excited to be back to doing a job I love.

(call me crazy, but helping raise children is much more fulfilling than filing papers and answering phones!)

Eeek! The Series {Part Two}

{because the Rucker family can't seem to keep life calm and consistent, we make multiple big changes at once. This is part two}

Part two in the changes we're bringing to the family involves Chad's job.

Yes, he is still a financial advisor with Edward Jones, he has just moved offices.

He is now partnering with another FA to oversee many more clients than he did before.

He is even busier than before, and he loves it!!

Eeek! The Series. {Part One}

{because the Rucker family can't seem to keep life calm and consistent, we make multiple big changes at once. This is part one}

Big changes are happening in our family!

...and of course since when we do things, we like to do them in a big way.

Like, changes for an example.

Which is why I decided to pull together a small 3 part series on the crazy-busy changes that have kept me pretty much MIA from the blog world lately...

It's simply titled, "Eeek! The Series" because all of these changes are both exciting and a little bit scary! (in a good way of course!)

Part one is short and sweet,

just the announcement of a new niece or nephew arriving on or around March 8th!

Is that not the CUTEST little niece/nephew ever?!

Landon and Emmett are going to be awesome big brothers!

He's Five.

He's five today.

FIVE.

My sweet Landon-man is FIVE!

It's going to take a while to get over the shock.

Five years ago today I became an aunt.

And with it, a whole new part of my heart that I didn't even know I had was opened up.

Landon has seen some very high highs....

...and some very low lows in his first five years.

Through all of it, a very smart, very precious little boy has emerged.

He is a great big brother...

...And an excellent date to the Muny!

He's always thinking, always asking questions, and ALWAYS ready to play!

Happy Birthday, sweet Landon Ray!

WE LOVE YOU!
